HBI Short Stroke Buffer Kit for your Springfield Kuna. Our short stroke buffer kit is a drop in replacement for the factory buffer pad and recoil spring. The increased length of the HBI buffer shortens the rearward bolt travel, lightning the recoil impulse and reducing possibility of spent cases becoming lodged in the receiver. When paired up with the +20% recoil spring our Short Stroke Kit is a simple, engineered solution that will always run when you need it.
Please Note: Our Short Stroke Buffer kit includes and is specifically designed for use with our +20% recoil spring. By reducing the rearward travel of the bolt we also reduce the amount of energy stored in the factory spring, which is used to return the bolt into battery with every shot. Our Short Stroke Buffer will run using the factory spring, but recoil impulse/timing will be more abrupt and your bolt will have less energy available to drive the next round into battery.
FRT/Super Safety/Aftermarket Lowers: We can guarantee that our buffer kit will be 100% reliable with every Kuna as it leaves the HS Produkt/Springfield Armory factory. However, due to a VERY large range in aftermarket fire control group options and even aftermarket lower receivers and even magazine swaps available for the Kuna we are unable to confirm compatibility with every combination of aftermarket parts available now, and into the future. Our Kuna short stroke kits have been used successfully with many combinations of aftermarket parts, but ultimately it is up to the end user to determine if our buffer kit is compatible with anything other than factory (OEM or HBI) parts.

My Kuna has been a joy to shoot suppressed with 147’s. With the HBI short stroke buffer kit installed, my Kuna now shoots faster, flatter, and smoother. My optic’s reticle is back on target waiting for me.
Shooting 2xs, 3xs, etc. is so much quicker and easier to track, now. Thank you, HBI, for offering this upgrade.

So I’m not banging on the product. HB makes good stuff and for a factory Kuna or a Kuna with just a Nexus lower, I’m sure this is great. I can attest that paired with the Nexus Lower and Atrius Super Selektor, this does not function. I have a Rave 140 trigger installed and it was running 99% flawless until I installed this. Now I’m getting light primer strikes every round. It will not even let off one to function as a bolt action. I can bet that if I put the stock lower back on that this would be fantastic. However with my setup it did not work. I have another trigger in route with a heavier hammer spring. I’m hoping this will do the trick otherwise it will have to come out.

Tested with all 9mm ammunition I own from cheep reloads to hST +p 124 ate everything without a single problem about 800 rounds. Less recoil even less recoil then the great stock buffer. The benefit is really noticeable with high pressure +p nato and 147s. Slightly harder to pull back charging handle but not bad.

Great product (as everything else they make). Description is accurate. I love how my Kuna shoots with this. I can, however, confirm that this product is not compatible with a Super Safety (AS Designs full kit) and Nexus lower receiver. I have also tried it with the AS Designs ARC Fire FRT and that does not function either. Works fine in semi-auto, but that’s it. No giggle switch.

I saw a video where a live round fell behind the buffer. I bought the buffer/spring kit to eliminate the possibility of a live round or case from falling behind the buffer. After installing this new kit, my Kuna is still 100 percent reliable plus the cycle time has improved since the stroke is shorter due to the longer buffer. HB Industries did their homework when it came to designing this kit. I highly recommend this kit.

If you can only get one upgrade for your kuna, this is it. The recoil impulse from the short stroke takes the kuna from A tier to S tier. While also fixing the potential problem of a bullet getting stuck in the lower.
